Capitol Building Field Trip
On Tuesday, April 21, we went on a field trip to the capitol of Iowa in Des Moines. I thought the field trip was a bunch of fun and I learned new things that I didn't know about. We learned about a ship that was in World War II that was names the U.S.S. Iowa, and president Franklin Roosevelt liked it. Since Franklin Roosevelt had polio, the ship had two things a ship never had at that time. A elevator and a bathtub. We also learned that Iowa was the first state to help start fighting in the civil war with president Lincoln.
There is something that looks like a painting but, it is actually made out of tons and tons of mini panels. Finally at the end most of the class (and me) went up into the whisper dome and I thought it was cool.
Des moines art center
On April 22, 2015 we went to the Des Moines Art Center and the Des Moines Sculpture park. My favorite sculpture is T8 a sculpture that looks different from different angles. T8 is by Mark Di Suvero. My Favorite painting is from a lake by Georgia O'Keeffe.
When we went to the art center we learned some history on some paintings. Also in the research we learned some history. When we did research before we went here, I did research on Alexander Calder, and he loved the color red. His piece is in the lobby and I think it is cool how it rotates with wind.
